El canal de TI está afrontando los nubarrones económicos “mucho mejor” que las redes de distribución de otros sectores. Ésa es al menos la opinión de Steve Brazier, presidente y CEO de Canalys, la consultora británica que estos días ultima los preparativos de la segunda edición de Channels Forum. Precisamente, esta convocatoria se configura como un foro idóneo en el que los distribuidores de toda EMEA podrán conocer en qué medida afectará al sector la consabida recesión, así como las recetas con las que solventar esta situación y seguir creciendo en tiempos difíciles.
Y a pesar de contar con el patrocinio de gigantes de la talla de HP, Acer, AMD, APC y Fujitsu Siemens, Brazier recalca el carácter “independiente” de este encuentro, que en sus propias palabras sólo busca “dar respuestas” a los cerca de 300 distribuidores de 25 países que se darán cita en Barcelona el 4 y 5 de febrero.
En concreto, durante esas dos jornadas el Hotel Hesperia Tower de la Ciudad Condal congregará, bajo el lema Fit to Partner, a miembros de todos los eslabones de la cadena de valor que intercambiarán opiniones acerca del presente y futuro del canal. Y dado que las noticias sobre la crisis mundial copan toda la actualidad económica, Brazier destaca que una de las ponencias estrella de Channels Forum será la de Tim Harford. Así, bajo el título “Coping with recession: Understanding buyers’ behavior” (Cómo hacer frente a la recesión: entendiendo el comportamiento de los clientes), este reconocido economista y periodista expondrá las principales claves para adaptarse a la actual realidad económica.
Y es que, tal y como apunta el presidente de Canalys, no sólo basta con adoptar estrategias para reducir costes, sino que los distribuidores deben entender que ahora más que nunca se requiere “un cambio de mentalidad” para entender las decisiones de compra de los clientes. “Los resellers deben acudir a Channels Forum para optimizar su forma de gestionar la recesión y explorar nuevas áreas de negocio con las que hacer frente a esta situación”, recalca Brazier.
Pero esta cita no será una simple sucesión de ponencias sobre virtualización, cloud computing, movilidad, seguridad y comunicaciones unificadas, sino que todos estos asuntos se abordarán desde una perspectiva más enriquecedora que propiciará la interacción entre todos los participantes.
